1.Leads a team of semi skilled personnel who operate and
maintain mechanical ore processing equipment,
such as gyratory crushers, conveyors, mills,
flotation cells, pumps, air compressors,
generators, gearboxes, screens and piping
systems used to process of extract copper from
mined ore.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities: . Primary responsibility is to see that a high standard of plant
maintenance is maintained to ensure maximum
equipment availability.
2. To lead and train a team of local personnel.
3. Takes measurements, reads meters and gauges or automatic
recording devices at specified intervals to verify
operating conditions and the condition of
equipment.
4. Records data, such as temperature of equipment, hours of
operation, fuel consumed, temperature or
pressure, water levels, wear rates.
5. Adjusts equipment to bring it into recommended or prescribed
operating ranges.
6. Visually inspects equipment at regular intervals to detect
malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or
lubrication.
7. Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking or
replacing bearings, replacing packing glands,
gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and
cleaning or replacing burners or other
components, using handtools and power tools.
8. Repairs and maintains mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic
components of production machines and
equipment, such as crushers, conveyors, mills,
material handling systems, and automated
lubrication system, following drawings and
manuals, using handtools, power tools, and
precision measuring instruments and guages.
9. Inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate
causes of malfunctions.
.Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem
area, using handtools and power tools. Inspects
and measures parts to detect wear,
misalignment, or other problems. Removes and
replaces worn or defective parts of drive
mechanism or hydraulic system, using handtools
and power tools, and following blueprints,
diagrams, and service manuals. Realigns and
adjusts components, such as spindles and
clutches, using handtools and following
diagrams.cates damaged air and hydraulic pipes
on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and
installs new parts.
. Starts machines and equipment to test operation following
repair.
Position Requirements
Skills Qualifications Required: Job Specification: . Degree of Education
Middle Vocational Technical School as Fitter/Industrial
Mechanic.
Tertiary qualification in mechanical theory.
Ability to speak, read and write English at least intermediate
level.
Computer Literate Microsoft Office an advantage.
2. Previous Experience
Minimal three years post qualification experience on a similar
plant installation or heavy industry.
3.Specific Skills
Experience on large gyratory crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps
and flotation cells is required.
4.Others
Able to work shifts.
